Accommodation – Prague

Although it is not a very big city, Prague has a considerable amount of Hotels. The detail is that there is no unitary classification system, so the number of stars you see does not necessarily coincide with international regulations. So look for references before booking a hotel. The general rule seems to be that the farther away from the center, they are of lower quality and price. Of course there are exceptions to the rule. Price ranges start with 3,500 crowns (1 star); 3,500 to 5,000 (2 to 3 stars), 5,000 to 8,500 (4 stars), and 8,500 crowns (5 stars).

If you don't trust the Hotels, there is a strong tendency for the rental of apartments, especially tourists who come with their family. They can belong to an agency that negotiates with tourists or it can also be private. The latter are usually better equipped. Rent can be cheaper than staying in a hotel 3 stars, but generally they do not have room service or breakfast.

For those with limited budget, they will be glad to know that most hostels in Prague They are clean, comfortable — up to a point — and offer attractive prices. There are two kinds of hostels: those that open all year and those that open in the summer season. The former are somewhat more expensive and it is difficult to find rooms with 2 to 3 beds. The usual are bedrooms with 4 to 9 beds. You can rent the whole room or just one bed. Bathrooms and kitchens are usually in the hallways on each floor of the hostel. The seconds are cheaper and it is easier to get 2 to 3 beds. They are usually 10 minutes or more from the city.

The premises of Bed & Breakfast They are family run, so customers can feel at home in a friendly atmosphere. They are comfortable and have good facilities and are cheaper than any hotel. Being in houses, these premises are usually located in the suburbs of Prague.

Finally, if you want to try something different, Prague offers the "botels" which, as its name infers, are hotels on boats. They are quite elegant although they have little space. The majority is in the Vltava river and can be classified between hotels from 2 to 4 stars.
