easyJet establishes strict regulations regarding the dimensions, weight and objects allowed to transport in the cabin of the plane, so we recommend that you carefully read this article dedicated to the hand luggage of this low-cost airline if you wish to inform respect.
Below you have an index with all the points that we are going to deal with in this article.
Number of packages allowed
easyJet allows a single piece of hand luggage Per passenger. The following items of hand luggage are considered as the only piece of hand luggage:
- Waist bags
- Wedding dress covers
- Motorcycle helmets
Apart from the unique piece of hand luggage, you can take the following items with you: coats, shawls, umbrellas, crutches, canes or walkers, as well as a duty free item bag from the departure airport.
If they travel children in an adult's lap, they do not have the right to carry their own hand luggage, so their belongings must be placed inside the adult's hand luggage.
Dimensions and weight
There is no weight limit on hand luggage with easyJet, although it must fit in the hand luggage meters that the airline enables at the airport next to its check-in counters.
However, if the flight is very crowded, you may be asked to place your piece under the front seat and not in the compartments of the aircraft for safety reasons.
The dimensions with which easyJet guarantees that your piece of hand luggage will travel in the cabin are 56 x 45 x 25 cm. Passengers who have the easyJet Plus card and those who have paid the Flexi fare are entitled to carry a hand luggage whose maximum dimensions are 56 x 45 x 25 cm, with the guarantee that they will travel with it in the cabin.
To ensure they have no problem, they will have to use the Speedy Boarding option that grants them possession of the easyJet Plus card to board before the rest of normal fare passengers.
About liquid transport
easyJet allows the transport of liquids in hand luggage, as long as the different packages do not exceed 100 ml each. These containers must be placed inside a transparent and self-closing plastic bag, whose maximum dimensions are 20 x 20 cm.
Each passenger may transport a total of 1 liter between all the liquid containers they carry (10 x 100 ml, for example). If you transport liquids that do not meet these restrictions, you will have to dispose of them at the security checkpoint.
Usually, these bags are given to you at the airport when you pass the security check, although there are airports where this is not the case. Therefore, our advice is that you get one before going to the airport, as they can be obtained in supermarkets or in any bazaar and its price is very economical.
easyJet does not allow the transport of any of the following items, either as hand luggage or as checked baggage:
- Gas bottles
- Solid or flammable liquids
- Radioactive material
- Hot drinks
- Infectious substances, such as infected blood, bacteria or viruses
- Corrosive materials, such as acids, mercury, wet batteries, etc.
- Specimens of animal or human cells
- Ink or toner cartridges for printing weighing more than 500 g
As regards the last point on the transport of ink or toner cartridges, this restriction applies to flights departing from the United Kingdom. You can take all the ink or toner cartridges you want for printing as long as the total weight of these cartridges does not exceed 500 g.
Keep in mind that easyJet does not allow animal transport alive neither in the cabin nor in the hold of the plane, except guide dogs on some routes, in which case you will have to communicate your situation in advance to the airline.
Transportation of special equipment
It is not allowed to carry sports equipment in the cabin, so you will have to check it in and it will travel in the hold of the plane. For this you will have to pay an additional non-refundable charge for each item you add.
To add sports equipment to your reservation, you will have to select the option Sports team while you book your flight online. If when you made your reservation you did not add any sports equipment and want to do it later, you will have to do it by logging in to My easyJet or through customer service.
It is allowed to transport clarinets, clarines, piccolo, flutes, trumpets, violins and violas, as well as others musical instruments not exceeding the dimensions of 30 x 120 x 38 cm, including the cover. The larger instruments (more than 32 kg) will be considered checked baggage.
Transport of mobility equipment
If you are going to need to transport wheelchairs or other mobility equipment, you will have to communicate it to easyJet with the maximum advance possible (minimum 48 hours before flight departure), given that not all airports have the mechanisms adapted for loading and unloading this type of equipment.
The airline allows a maximum of up to two mobility items per passenger without additional fees, such as wheelchairs or mobility aids, apart from the allowable baggage allowance, including sports wheelchairs.
However, if you already carry two mobility items and, in addition, you want to carry a sports wheelchair as a third article, this will be considered as sports equipment and, for this reason, you will have to pay the corresponding fee.
Finally, easyJet accepts the transport of wheelchairs powered by non-spillable hermetic batteries; however, it will not allow wheelchairs to be driven into the plane powered by spillable non-hermetic batteries.
