Hymn – Cyprus

The anthem of Cyprus It is a particular case: it is the same anthem of Greece. The island has always felt very close to the Hellenic country because of the ethnic, cultural and common historical enemy (Turkey).

The Cyprus Flag

It was written in 1823 by the Greek Dionýsios Solomós. It consists of 158 stanzas, which makes it the longest anthem in the world. The music was composed by composer Nikolaos Mantazaros. In 1865, the first two stanzas officially became the National Anthem of Greece. Cyprus He adopted it when he became independent from England in 1960.
