Throughout its twenty-seven years of operation it has managed to gather one of the richest institutional collections of America that goes from the year 500 before Christ to the 800 after Christ.
The green jade from Costa Rica It is a variety of semi-precious mineral that was widely used in countless elements. But this fascinating collection not only features items from Pre-Columbian art of jade, but also of various materials such as ceramic, stone, gold, shell, wood, resin, bone and others. Thus we will find statuary pieces, metates, hands to grind. The quality of this collection is due to the fact that it mainly has objects worked by specialists. It also has one of the most valuable collections of Costa Rican plastic arts from the country.
This whole collection is organized in four collections: archeology, art, ethnography Y numismatics, exhibited in five thematic rooms.
The museum is open from Monday to Friday, on a continuous day, from 9 in the morning until three in the afternoon. The value of the tickets is 5 euros for foreign visitors.
