The Las Nieves Natural Park is in the municipalities of Puntallana, San Andrés and Sauces, and Santa Cruz de La Palma in the northeast region of the island of La Palma. Biological wealth is conjugated here, a landscape enviroment of enormous beauty and high geomorphological values, gathered in an extension of 5,094 hectares that house some farm houses scattered near the road, in La Galga and San Juan, in Los Sauces.
It is an area of ecological sensitivity that houses Los Tiles, one of the best laurel forests in the Canary Islands, declared Unesco Biosphere Reserve, one of the most important underground aquifer recharge basins and a Special Bird Protection Zone.
In this protected space we can see threatened and protected plant species, in a dense and humid forest in which the sun hardly penetrates and monumental ferns sprout. The endemic fauna also has some endangered species, such as the laurel pigeon that has one of its main breeding areas here.
In the Park we will find the itineraries perfectly marked and panels interpreters that will help us understand the environment. There is also a parking area for vehicles and snacks with services and sources for public use, such as a cafeteria service.
The Los Tilos Visitor Center It opens its doors daily from 9 to 17 hours, right there we can collect informative material for our visit. To get to the Park we must take the LP-1 road in the direction of Los Sauces.
