The River Viewpoint It is located north of the island of Lanzarote, about him Famara Risco, the highest elevation of the island, at 479 meters of altitude. From there you get the most wonderful views of the El Rio sea arm that separates Lanzarote from the island of La Graciosa and, on clear days, the islets next to La Graciosa are seen. Set that is declared Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park for its great ecological value, including the seabed.
The viewpoint is an architectural complex designed by César Manrique and opened in 1971. It is a work that integrates art and nature. From the outside, with the iron sculpture that represents a fish and a bird, to the building camouflaged under rocks.
It is accessed by a winding corridor decorated with traditional ceramics in a completely white environment. We arrive at the two vaulted spaces with two panoramic windows that allow a spectacular exterior view.
Through a helical staircase we access the cafeteria and the souvenir shop and, above, the open terrace, where the iron and wood railings set the building like the bow of a ship. Towards the back of the set you can see the Montaña Clara and the Roque del Oeste.
The ride takes about 45 minutes. It can be done between 10 and 17:45, in summer it runs until 19. The entrance is € 4.50 and € 2.50 for children.
