In the heart of Saint Joseph, in the Bellavista Fortress, built in 1917 as a military barracks, in front of the National Assembly and the Democracy Square, is based on National Museum of Costa Rica to protect the heritage Cultural and natural country.
Upon entering we access a courtyard where we can appreciate traditional carts, stone balls pre-Columbian, and colonial era canyons.
The museum has a vast collection of colonial pre-Columbian and historical objects that are organized by themes.
The spectacular collection of gold ornaments exhibited in the Gold Hall and the pre-Columbian collection of metates Y ceramics. It also has an interesting Colonial Room, which reproduces an 18th-century room with all the rustic colonial furniture.
It also exposes very important samples of natural Sciences. It should be noted that the National Herbarium It is included in the National Museum.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8.30 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. The rate for foreigners is 5 euros, and in the case of accredited students it is 2.5 euros. National visitors have a reduced rate.
