The Riscos de Tirajana Natural Monument It is located in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and is part of the Gran Canaria World Biosphere Reserve.
Its 772 hectares are located in the central area of Gran Canaria, and are included in the Los Marteles Special Natural Reserve.
This place is formed by the walls of a very large boiler, approximately 35 kilometers long. Product of erosion, has a marked interest of geological and geomorphological type. It is an area of the highest beauty and uniqueness, an area of ecological sensitivity where rare endemic botanical species inhabit, some endangered and some protected species nest in their formations.
The Jierro Canyon together with Bentejuí Route and an infinity of orographic accidents of a privileged terrain make up the Tirajana cracks, pride of the tirajaneros, who “close” the Tirajana boiler on the north side.
These roads, used since ancient times by Aboriginal aborigines who inhabited the island, are especially recommended for all those trekking enthusiasts who want to make a very good “height route”.
